Deconstruction of Witcher 2 Cover

The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings: Enhanced Edition
Front Cover
On the front cover we have what we can assume is the main character of the game walking towards the front cover which is very typical of video game cover art. In his left hand he holds a very standard looking sword and nothing in his right. His clothing does not look incredibly heavy and he holds another sword on his back which implies that he is a specialist of some kind. He has white hair, unnatural yellow eyes and a scar across his left eye which makes him seem very mercenary like. That idea is reinforced by the fact that he walks alone. In the background is a battle going on in what appears to be a castle. On the ground there are dozens of troops fighting amognst themselves which the main character doesn't seem to be a part of implying he might be indifferent to the conflict. Above all the soldiers is a dragon breathing fire along the back of the main character illuminating his body with an orange glow which makes him seem sort of dangerous. That same fire also seems to flow into the red hair of a woman in the top right who is looking down over the main character. This might represent the characters personality as fiery and generally not to be messed with and she's clearly a main character to be on the front and their close proximity positioning imply they might have a romantic link. Their expressions however make me think that it's not a smooth relationship and that their jobs take priority over relationships. The entire cover all in all tells me that this is a medieval fantasy game with a focused story because of the heavily characterized look of the main character on the front of the case as opposed to generic helmeted man standing on a rock like on Skyrim's Cover

Back Cover
The back cover immediately at the top has the tagline "A True Hero Forges His Own Story" which  heavily implies that this game has choices you can make that will deeply affect the story in the game. It's making out the player to be the true hero because he will be the one forging the story. The blurb on the back of the box is all about the story showing that this game is about the story above the game-play. Below that are three snippets of the game with some bold orange text below them. The first one reads "IMMERSIVE, MATURE, NON-LINEAR STORY" which again tells you about the focus this game has on story and that they've taken great care in making sure it will be engaging encouraging gamers who like a good story ( which is most ) to buy it. The second, "REALISTIC, VAST, CONSISTENT GAME WORLD" which is telling you that the game will be long and all parts have been worked hard on for those who like immersion. Lastly is "SPECTACULAR, BRUTAL, TACTICAL COMBAT" which appeals to people who like combat more than anything. It's telling them that while it may have a good story the combat is visceral and good as well. Below that is the general information you have on every game.

  1. Your deconstructions are really good but you need to start developing some posts that discuss planning and considering your own product!!
